Securing the Environment Requires Continuous Maintenance

Gas monitoring is not a one-time investment. A safe working environment requires that systems stay up to date, both in terms of technology and maintenance. The reliability of the equipment doesn’t maintain itself – it requires planned and regular servicing. This is especially true in industrial settings, where gas risks can lead to serious hazards.

Regular Maintenance Is Preventive Safety

Calibrations, inspections, and functional testing ensure that devices respond reliably when they are needed the most. The recommended service interval is once a year for low-risk environments and up to four times a year for more demanding sites. In addition, functional testing every few months is advised. Each site is always assessed individually.

Technology develops quickly, constantly introducing new and smarter gas monitoring solutions. Older systems may fall behind current safety standards or lose some of their measurement accuracy. For this reason, gas monitoring should be seen as a part of the entire operational environment, not just as individual devices.

Recommended Sensor Replacement Intervals

Gas sensors have a limited service life, and their sensitivity declines over time. To ensure reliable measurements, we recommend the following intervals:
• Infrared sensor (DGTi2): 5 years
• Electrochemical sensor (VARIO (ec)): 2 years
• Electrochemical sensor (VARIO (ec/m)): 5 years
• Semiconductor sensor (VARIO (sc)): 3 years
• Catalytic sensor (KEX, VARIO (cat)): 5 years

Following these replacement intervals ensures that your gas monitoring remains reliable and effective under all conditions.
