Apetit is a Finnish food company focused on plant-based products and works in close cooperation with domestic primary production.
The company’s main product groups include frozen vegetables and meals, vegetable oils, and rapeseed expellers. At the Säkylä production plant, seasonal vegetables are processed and frozen, and ready-made meals are prepared.
Apetit employs about 315 people, most of them in Finland. In addition to Säkylä, production facilities are located in Kantvik (Kirkkonummi) and Pudasjärvi, with office premises in the Kalasatama district of Helsinki. Apetit’s goal is profitable growth and strengthening its position as a market leader in plant-based foods.

At the Säkylä plant, nitrogen is used in several processes, which poses oxygen-related safety risks.
Since nitrogen can displace oxygen in workspaces, it was essential to find a solution for reliably and continuously monitoring oxygen levels. The need for gas detection arose purely from personnel safety concerns. Without proper measurement, there is a risk that low oxygen levels could go unnoticed, potentially compromising worker safety and production continuity.

The cooperation was already familiar and has run smoothly from the beginning. Detector also manages gas monitoring at Apetit’s Pudasjärvi facility.Several gas detection devices have been delivered to the Säkylä site, and the system has been expanded over time as needed.
Detector’s solutions are tailored to meet Apetit’s specific needs and are integrated into the production environment to allow monitoring in areas where nitrogen is handled or used.
