HTP values 2025 published – what does the update mean for gas detection?

The Finnish Ministry of Social Affairs and Health has published an updated regulation on concentrations known to be harmful (HTP values 2025, STM 55/2025). The new publication replaces the 2020 version and introduces changes that have a direct impact on workplace safety. The update includes:

  • New substances with corresponding HTP values
  • Revised limit values for several substances
  • Addition of biological exposure reference values

These updated values directly affect how gas readings are interpreted and when actions must be taken to reduce exposure in the workplace.

Why is the HTP update significant?

Detector’s gas detection devices are key tools for staying compliant with new safety limits and reference values. HTP values determine when concentrations in the air may be harmful. Gas detectors are crucial for identifying these situations before they become hazardous. HTP values are defined by two time-based exposure limits:

  • TWA (time weighted average) – 8-hour average (HTP 8h) – long-term exposure during a workday
  • STEL (short term exposure limit) – 15-minute short-term value (HTP 15min)

Detector’s fixed and portable gas detectors can be calibrated to meet these official HTP thresholds, ensuring our customers’ monitoring systems align with the latest safety regulations.

With Seguro and Valvomo, real-time data is always available, enabling quick response to any anomalies. This not only helps meet legal requirements but also ensures a high level of safety in daily operations.
