Detector Oy has been selected to implement the gas alarm system for the VTT Bioruukki PEPA (piloting centre for clean energy innovations) project. This nationally significant initiative aims to develop a platform for clean energy pilot testing. Our selection as contractor highlights that our long-standing experience and high-quality solutions meet the demands of complex projects, strict safety standards, and integrated system requirements.
What is the project about?
VTT Bioruukki PEPA is a research and development project focused on testing and developing new energy technologies. It emphasizes safety and collaboration between various stakeholders. Detector Oy is responsible for the design, installation, and commissioning of the gas alarm system, ensuring that laboratory and pilot environments meet the highest safety standards.
The main contractor of the project is Peab Oy, with WSP Finland Oy serving as the project management consultant. Construction supervision is handled by Rakennuttajatoimisto HTJ Oy, and Sweco Finland Oy is in charge of independent monitoring of the gas alarm system—demonstrating the scale and multidisciplinary cooperation involved in the project.
Detector’s role and expertise
Detector Oy is committed to providing top-tier safety solutions in gas monitoring. Through the Bioruukki PEPA project, we contribute our expertise to research environments developing tomorrow’s energy solutions.
We are responsible for the entire implementation of the gas alarm system, from design to installation, commissioning, and long-term maintenance. We deliver a full-service package, including cabling, connections, on-site installation, and system integration.
Our long-time partner Eltex Sähkö ja Automaatio Oy is a key contributor to the project, handling the field installations and practical implementation. This partnership ensures technical reliability and smooth project execution.
Real-time monitoring and integration with existing automation systems ensure that any gas leaks are detected and addressed immediately. We work closely with the contractor, project managers, and supervisors to meet all safety requirements and ensure reliable system performance.
Once the system is installed and operational, we provide comprehensive training for end users, enabling them to respond correctly to alarms. We also supply clear documentation and a maintenance plan to ensure long-term reliability.
Toward a cleaner and safer future
Detector Oy’s involvement in this project strengthens our position as a trusted safety expert in the energy sector. As hydrogen, biofuels, and other emerging energy sources become more common, gas monitoring becomes increasingly important. This project is an excellent example of how we can help build a safer and more sustainable future. We will continue to follow the project’s progress and share updates along the way.
